"Ashton." Savanna knocked on the door to his room. Some stranger would surely interpret the knocks to be from a thirsty murderer.
"Two minutes."
"Ashton-- well, that wasn't even two seconds."
"The stars didn't stay to adore the moon. In a haste, are they?" A successful attempt in getting the timorous smile back on her face.
"Listen."
Clodovea was peacefully reading 'Lolita'. The voices behind the characters rose, then she realized that it wasn't the book. She briskly walked out of her room; the voice recognized never created commotions.
"Don't talk to me again. Not after today, no."
"Chartreuse?" Clodovea had a mysterious habit of referring to Ashton by his family name. "Savanna? What happened?"
Savanna counted something on her fingers, to which Clove frowned. On noticing her, Savanna frowned back, followed by a realisation of what she was frowning on, and removing her eyes from her.
"Why, Ashton?" Savanna said.
Clove was only a still figurine fulfilling the purpose of evidence to the enheatened conversation.
"Why, you ask? You know how much I care about you. But if your ears will not welcome the good, then what is the worth of my words."
"Words, Ashton. There are more words in this world than the count of stars we can keep of in New York. These words can leave with the slightest of air. Or, they can stay. They can hold onto each pore of our skin, reside on each strand descending from the centre. Your part is to tell the ethical, and not control the being. Your part is to lay the path, and to walk on it, is of the being. You should direct till the end of time."
"What is your part then?"
"Same."
"You said the right thing about words. They stay. Just like the things you said to me amid June. They have stayed, and they hurt. Thank God you turned to me that day."
"What if I didn't?"
"You won't have got a chance, then. You'd never get see me. See my swollen, red eyes. I'd hate you more than I love you now. Never have I been so hurt."
"Hate cannot reside where love does."
"Oh really? Is this the real life? Or is this just fantasy?"
"Open your eyes, look up to the skies and see."
"I am just a-- don't distract me!"
"Not my fault, you started it."
"Do you want to end things with me or what?" Ashton shouted.
"What?" Savanna always expected herself of being a victim of falling fans, never this statement. No tear fell of the edge; they held on strongly to her eyes.
Clodovea saw tears rise in the eyes of Chartreuse as well. He gave his less agile hand forward.
"End things with me?" he clamoured in a torn voice.
"Till such a thought no longer rises in your head."
Clove couldn't understand what just happened. Her eyes turned to Chartreuse, whose face changed wildly. Savanna turned and walked to her bed calmly. Clove couldn't understand why her sister did so.
"Savanna, what just happened there?" Clove was astonished.
"You were present right there."
"Why did you do that?"
"I did the right thing."
"You could have saved your relationship!"
"Won't that be bondage?"
"Are you out of your senses, Savanna?"
"I can never save a dead relationship."
"What?"
"Yes, the relationship dies as soon as that thought even occurs to the head of a being. What if I say, 'Can we be sisters no longer?' What do you think about that?"
"What now, then?"
"My Ashton is not egocentric." She smiled, just adding further more to Clove's amazement.
"Exactly." Ashton stood at the threshold, folded arms and grinning physiognomy.
"What is exactly happening?" Clove had never faced so much of confusion.
"Ashton, you had started over acting." Savanna laughed.
"Yeah, but the last part was quite nice, we did great there."
Ashton said. "Okay, don't get so confused. Savanna told me all you talked to Chase last week. We could think of no other way than this."
"So did you relate?" Savanna asked.
"So you want me to break-up with Chase? You want to end my relationship? How could you even think about that?" Clove's tone went from hurt to ferocious. Drops of her melted eyes touched her jeans.
"My dear, if we don't share opinions, then can we sisters break up? Relation is not shared by blood, not held by blood. Ashton is a part of me, I can never get away from him. Just like my hands, or feet, or heart. Just like me. I can't get away from myself. And myself and Ashton's, they're no different." Savanna said. Ashton was looking at her like she was a dynamic supernova in the galaxies, giving enough stardust for the Earth to mould her children.
"You think I can explain that to him." Clove said.
"You are the only one who can explain this to him." Savanna said.
"What should I say?" Clodovea said, to which Ashton smiled.
"Tell him the worth of words. The meaning of 'forever'. Talking of never talking again is difficult. Tell him to say something only if it's worth doing. I don't know how it's so easy for you to say of never talking again, even in, as you say, 'heat of the moment'. Forever, yes. You know it hurt me playing his role, to explain it all to you. How can one say all that when they love you? Tell him that yes, this is real life. What they show in movies is not love. What I do to you is. Probably what you do to me. Tell him that you can never end things with yourself. Tell him that hate isn't even thought of in love. There is no anger. When there is love, it's the only one. Similar for every feeling, every emotion. You can't be happy when sad, not calm when angry. You can't love when you hate. And tell him that past is better to be forgotten in areas there is no chance of it being repeated. History only repeats itself if it's alive. In people, in places, in fragments and pieces of immortality. Destroy it's only evidence, and it goes forever. And tell him because if you're not differentiated from one another, then you're the only one he'll listen to. If not you, then no one. You have to find ways. You have to bring out his pure self. Faith is yours, Clodovea. I know because I have experienced all of this. All the good things," Ashton smiled at Savanna, "And so will you. And so can you make him, experience. All the good things. Just find a way. We found one too, to tell you, that how beautiful love is, and how pure those eyes are, who can see it."
