SHY AND TIMID

SHY AND TIMID

SITTING BEHIND JASON -- OTHER THAN her father -- while he rode his bike was the most comfortable thing for Jacelyn, actually more comfortable than her own bed. It took her less time to fall asleep on his bike rather than it took on her own bed. She loved it.
Most of the girls at school were jealous of Jacelyn, because she was the only girl -- rather only one -- Jason used to talk with. They were best friends. Most of them there took their friendship the way Jacelyn and Jason wanted their relationship to be. Jason was really handsome, but really shy and timid as well. He couldn't really handle girls, unlike most of the boys. Many girls took this as an advantage and tried to flirt with Jason, but Jacelyn was always there, protecting him from them, warding them off sarcastically.
  "I knew you would sleep."
  "I ain't."
"First if all, don't hold me so tight, it's suffocating. Secondly, what is it you want to talk about Cole?"
  "Cole and Calyn are committed."
  "You can't be serious."
"I am. Even I got know yesterday. I mean, about their relationship. I thought Cole would have told you."
"As if he ever told me about his girlfriends."
"She didn't tell me herself." And Jacelyn went on narrating everything to Jason, all about that weird man, the armed boy, Cole's text, the fight, the tears, the reading and everything.

Way back home, Jason and Jacelyn decided to take a long route. While they were in a deserted alley, the bike suddenly came to a halt. What's better than a punctured tyre amid an alien road? Fortunately, the servicing shop of his bike was four long steps away. Leaving it there, they decided to walk the way back home.
"So, are you free tonight?" Jason asked with a pour of hesitation.
  "Yes."
"Is there any issue if I stop by?"
"Not at all, wait. What about a sleepover, like the ones we used to have when we were 10?"
  "Yeah, sure. Sounds fun."

Jacelyn was home alone that night. Raven and Chase Black -- Jacelyn's parents -- were of out for a business meeting of a week. In that occasion, Calyn was out with Cole. And Neville, too, had a sleepover at a friend's place. Having Jason over, for one whole night made her stomach crumble. She was really very nervous and ---
The door bell rang, Jason was here. Cursing herself she went to the door and it burst open. "Hey." He said.
He was dressed really nice, a black shirt with acid washed blue jeans and black shoes. His brown hair was set in a flip and his black round glasses protecting his gray eyes. He looked like the kind of guy who would come to your home, lift you up, whirl around, put you down, go down on his knees, take your hand and slide a beautiful ring in your finger. Jacelyn on the other hand looked his antagonistic. Messy hair, sleepy eyes, with loose t-shirts and problematically fitted shorts, with tummy bulging out. She never understood how such a handsome being was best friends with a filthy, ugly one.
She was so mesmerised that nothing except "Hey, come in," came out of her mouth.
